Warning: Before planning your trip to Bolivia, it is important to note the visa requirements. Citizens from certain countries may require a visa to enter Bolivia. It is recommended to check with the nearest Bolivian embassy or consulate in your country to determine the visa requirements and application process. Short Term Business Visit

Visitor Visa  Requirements  Citizens of the following FTAA countries require a transit visa for a maximum of 15 days free of charge. Likewise, they require a Tourism Visa to enter Bolivia, with cost and time limit:

  • Barbados

  • Belize

  • Dominica

  • The Savior

  • Grenade

  • Guatemala

  • Guyana

  • Haiti

  • Honduras

  • Jamaica

  • Mexico

  • Nicaragua

Citizens of the following FTAA countries do not require a tourist visa to enter Bolivia:

  • Antigua and Barbuda (for 30 days)

  • Argentina (for 90 days)

  • Bahamas (for 30 days)

  • Brazil (for 90 days)

  • Canada (for 30 days)

  • Chile (for 90 days)

  • Colombia (for 90 days)

  • Costa Rica (for 30 days)

  • Ecuador (for 90 days)

  • Paraguay (for 90 days)

  • Peru (for 90 days)

  • Saint Kitts and Nevis (for 30 days 

  • Saint Lucia (for 30 days)

  • Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (for 30 days)

  • USA (for 90 days)

  • Uruguay (for 90 days)

Documentation Required to  Apply for a  Visitor VisaAny visitor seeking to enter Bolivia is required to establish, to the satisfaction of Immigration officials, identification and the purpose of their entry into the country. All people require a passport to enter Bolivia, except those people who have an identity card that is processed for citizens of Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay. 

  • Valid passport (It is recommended that it be valid for at least six months after the period of intended stay)

  • Application form

  • 1 passport size color photo

  • Round-trip air ticket or travel itinerary as proof of return from the trip

A yellow fever vaccination certificate may be required.

Method to  Deposit the  Application

The application form must be presented at a Consulate prior to requesting entry to Bolivia.  Processing Time

1-2 days for people requiring tourist visas. Multiple Entry Visa

Bolivia processes multiple entry visas but they are not automatically guaranteed. Validity/ExtentFor citizens of countries that require a visa, the validity is 30 days. For citizens who do not require a visa to enter Bolivia, the stay can be 30 or 90 days from the day of entry depending on nationality. 

The stay can be extended once the person is in Bolivia. For an extension, the applicant must complete an application and return it with the appropriate documentation (see above) to an Immigration Office in Bolivia. 

Application Cost A transit visa for a maximum of 15 days is exempt from payment, for the countries listed that do not need a visa to enter Bolivia. Processing costs depend on nationality. 

Citizens of Mexico, Dominica, Nicaragua and Suriname are exempt from costs for 30 days of stay.

Citizens of the following countries must pay US$10

  • Panama: $US.10.- for 30 days

  • Granada: $US.10.- for 30 days 

  • Guatemala: $US.10 - for 30 days

Citizens of the following countries must pay US$15

  • Dominican Republic: $US.15.- for 30 days

Citizens of the following countries must pay US$20

  • Honduras: $US.20.- for 30 days

Citizens of the following countries must pay US$25

  • Barbados: $US.25.- for 30 days

  • Guyana: $US.25.- for 30 days

  • Haiti: $US.25.- for 30 days

Citizens of the following countries must pay US$30

  • Venezuela: $US.30.- for 30 days

  • Belize: $US.30.- for 30 days

  • El Salvador: $US.30.- for 30 days

Citizens of the following countries must pay US$45

  • Trinidad and Tobago: $US.45.- for 30 days

Citizens of the following countries must pay US$50

  • Jamaica: $US.50 for 30 days

Companions and DependentsFamily members accompanying the visitor to Bolivia must meet the same requirements for temporary entry.  General Requirements for a Temporary Entry Short-Term Business Visitor

All citizens from FTAA countries who travel to Bolivia for business purposes require a Specific Purpose Visa. Specific Requirements 

  • All the requirements mentioned above to process the visitor visa will be required to acquire a Business Visa

  • A letter from the company as proof of business intentions and travel dates

 Specific Purpose Visas are valid for 30 days and cost US$85.
